No More Squirrels If You Help Me Raise My Self Esteem

    I clicked, but I couldn’t see if my vote registered, or what. And, I didn’t see a picture on the thumbnails page that screamed “Tiny Kingdom” at me. I hope I did it right!

    And we don’t need no steenking votes to tell us that you are a Top Mama. We knew that already!

    I’ve read your blog for quite some time but finally had to comment on your recent frolick with a squirrel. I felt so bad for you (even though, honestly, I laughed my ass off!). Until one day last week when one of my dogs decided to bring me a present. A dead rabbit. On my living room floor. Dead. Warm. Fuzzy. Rabbit……I’ve never screamed like that in my life. So, you have my hearfelt apologies for my laughing at you about the squirrel. And you have my undying respect and admiration for surviving in a house with all that testosterone!

    Re: your comment on my bog–it’s funny that you mentioned Redeemer in NYC. I almost asked if you’d been there when you visited the city a while back. My best friend used to live in NYC and everytime I visited her, I’d go to Redeemer. I used to listen to his sermons on tape a lot.
    And also, at the retreat, I overheard some girls talking about Lauren Winner and her book. Small world. I haven’t read the book, but have heard good things.

    What I'm Reading


    I've never read any of his fiction, but his book about the craft of writing was awesome.

    Hey, I have a story in this book about how I'm not always the best mom. It's guaranteed to make you feel better about yourself, especially the part where I throw stuff at Finn.

    I'd heard a lot about this and enjoyed it, but not as much as one of my all-time faves:

    The Boys Are Loving


    I didn't think Porter would like this, but I was desperate for him to read something, so I shoved it at him and it was a WINNER.

    Hooray-- there's a sequel to the original Diary. The guys are snarfing it up.


    Porter finished all the Harry Potter books so I started him on A Wrinkle In Time, and he's enjoying it. I bought the whole set so he'd have plenty to read for the next few months.


    After finishing the Harry Potters, Drew turned to the Hardy Boys. He can't tell a story "in a nutshell," so I've heard all about the missing jalopy, and the red wig. Solve the mystery already!
