Their Guts Will Have A Happy Birthday

The twins’ birthday is Tuesday and Finn has had several ideas about what he’s going to give them. He’s considered making them a CD, purchasing Best Buy gift cards, or getting them each a Swiss Army knife.

A few minutes ago he ran into my room and announced that he had thought of an even more fabulous present.

“You know what I’d want for MY birthday? A lifetime Safety. I think I’d feel more relaxed around the house when I’m feeling a little gassy.”

He’s printing up the certificates now.

  1. I stifled a laugh at his gift. Very thoughtful and yet so funny! He sounds like a great older brother.

  2. How very funny! I’ll have to remember that when the gaseous members of my family have birthdays!

  3. All I have to say to that is “Green”!!!

  4. Oh, honey, I’m so sorry. Stock up on good candles!

  5. Oh, wait, you have 3 lively boys careening thru your house…It might be better to stick with Febreeze.

  6. If we had that at our house, the house would explode, not to mention the sound barrier !!!! Happy Birthday to the boys !

  7. That. Is. Awesome.

  8. That is so thoughtful. Obviously, he is just thinking of their comfort. Nice.

  9. Your boys are hilarious! Today is my 25th birthday! Share some of my August love with the twins :)

  10. Now that’s a thoughtful gift for the twins. You may not enjoy it as much as Drew and Porter will, but do as Marine Wife suggested, and pepper the house with Febreeze and OdoBan. You’ll be good to go. Happy Birthday, Drew and Porter!

  11. Happy Birthday to Drew and Porter! May they always enjoy (and never forget) the gift of the Lifetime Safety.

The lavendar scented febreeze is really nice!

  12. I think that might be nice ON their birthday, but I also think it is very considerate to go outside or in ones own privacy if there is smell to follow. Happy Birthday to all!

  13. Happy Birthday Boys of Summer, have a gaseous, good time!

  14. Is he really giving them each a lifetime safety? or is it only good on their birthday?

  15. Oh, my Lord, this is amazing - I feel like I’m looking into the future at my house…I almost don’t want to keep reading because I’m afraid I’ll know too much! But I’m sure I will, anyway. Great blog.

And I can’t wait to explain the Safety/Doorknob game to my husband!

  16. A little late but Happy Birthday to the twins. I hope they had a great time.

    What I'm Reading

I've never read any of his fiction, but his book about the craft of writing was awesome.

Hey, I have a story in this book about how I'm not always the best mom. It's guaranteed to make you feel better about yourself, especially the part where I throw stuff at Finn.

I'd heard a lot about this and enjoyed it, but not as much as one of my all-time faves:

    The Boys Are Loving

I didn't think Porter would like this, but I was desperate for him to read something, so I shoved it at him and it was a WINNER.

Hooray-- there's a sequel to the original Diary. The guys are snarfing it up.

Porter finished all the Harry Potter books so I started him on A Wrinkle In Time, and he's enjoying it. I bought the whole set so he'd have plenty to read for the next few months.

After finishing the Harry Potters, Drew turned to the Hardy Boys. He can't tell a story "in a nutshell," so I've heard all about the missing jalopy, and the red wig. Solve the mystery already!
