Porter’s Week In Review
Porter Glamore: Infomercial Authority
The boys were watching a sporting event when an ad for Nutrisystem came on.
“Really you should go with the Bowflex instead,” Porter said, looking up briefly from his Legoes.
“Even though you get two free weeks with Nutrisystem, after that you have to pay a lot of money. Bowflex is a better deal for the money and everyone knows you have to exercise to lose weight.”
Porter Glamore: Dishwashing Excitement
Always curious, Porter wondered what would happen if he added this:

to the dishwasher.
Result:

Who can be angry about bubbles, especially in the name of science? Plus, a small area of the floor is much cleaner than it was previously.
Porter Glamore: Amateur Ornithologist
Porter slaved away on his multiplication facts, particularly those pesky 6’s, after I promised to pay for 1/2 a parakeet if he could perform his 6’s perfectly two days in a row.
Here is Feathers, a whole parakeet. Porter came up with $8 of his own.
Feathers loves to hang out with Porter.

Feathers can’t wait to see what happens next in A Wrinkle in Time.

I personally would not like to have a bird sitting on my head, but Porter has had nastier creatures there.

East of Eden update: I’m almost halfway through and am rationing this lovely book out bit by bit. Thanks to all of you who encouraged me to keep trying to get into it.

I had a parakeet named Tweety, very original I know, when I was a kid and I LOVED that damn bird! I would sit and watch Saturday morning cartoons with him.

Oooh, birds are fun! I had a parakeet when I was younger, and we now have a cockatiel. Just tell him to watch out for bird kisses - they can hurt.

Hehe…when I read “amatuer ornithologist” at first I thought it said “amateur orthodontist.”
I think the parakeet thing sounds much safer than having him messing with this brothers’ teeth.

There is truly never a dull moment at your house. A parakeet, huh? Try and keep it alive. It looks like a friendl enough creature.

Love the dishwasher flood. When I was 14 I spent a summer babysitting my two young cousins in their home. One week my aunt seemed particularly overwhelmed so I tried to help out with some household chores. I had never used a dishwasher. I used Dawn. Actually, I used a LOT of Dawn. Big flood. My aunt and uncle were up all night mopping.

I loved the dish washer soap picture as well. It brings back memories of when my daughter dumped a bottle of shampoo in the bath tub and let the water run. The entire bathtub was full of soap bubbles–all the way up to the ceiling! I walked in after she “cleaned it up”, and noticed soap bubbles on the floor behind the toilet. Then I noticed them up the wall. Then I noticed them on the ceiling in the tub. And that was when I called the daughter into the bathroom for an explanation. My only regret is that I didn’t actually see soap bubbles filling the back half of the bathroom. That must have been a sight!

Cute bird! I would love to have birds, but my four feral cats wouldn’t be able to stand it and we’d truly have a Sylvester/Tweety house x4. It would be miserable and any poor bird I bring in the house would be driven crazy. But I’ve told my husband that the minute the last cat passes away I’m TOTALLY getting a bird.
