Science Lab 102 Exam
1. Place marbles on a large magnet, cover them with the contents of a dishwasher detergent pod, and subject it to an eerie light. Let sit for three days.
Will the light and detergent cause the marbles to become magnetic?
a) Yes
b) No
c) Depends on brand of dishwasher detergent.
d) Depends whether the light is regular or fluorescent.
Advanced: Now pour a gallon of water over the whole shebang. (Don’t worry that the experiment is taking place in your room on your dresser rather than under laboratory conditions.)
What happens?
a) The water makes the marbles magnetic.
b) The marbles are not magnetic, but are clean.
c) Water leaks through the floor into the basement, causing Mom to freak out.
d) Unsure; I abandoned the experiment to take Feathers out to jump on the trampoline.

At our house, the experiments are usually of the kitchen variety. And after admiring the finished product, I am asked to taste it. C never understands why Mama won’t taste her raw eggs, flour, salt and cheerios shakes. I shudder just thinking about it.

B on the first. C AND D on the second.
We’d also like to know if there was punishment or only a lesson on the proper way to conduct experiments (including the step of asking for permission).

I’m stumped. Although I’m pretty darn sure I’d rather take Feathers to jump on the trampoline. I’m curious as to how this experiment turns out…:)

You did not include the option of trying to get one’s siblings to taste the results. That was my personal favorite as a child. Its a miracle my younger brothers lived through some of my experiments.

I have a science experiment but it involves your olives.
I made them a week ago and slowly have been eating them. I went in the fridge to get a few and noticed olive oil butter in my container. I put a little more vinegar and stirred the concoction to no avail. I think my fridge might be too cold or something. Has anyone else made the olives and found olive oil butter in their’s? and suggestions, should i just get the remaining olives left and start over?
