Still Questioning

Everyone seemed to really like it that Porter asked so many questions that I lost my cool.

FYI, he’s still asking as many as ever. Today when we got home the lawn service was cutting the grass and I didn’t hear from the duo for at least fifteen minutes, except once when Drew ran downstairs to say, “Hey Mom, if you have to talk to us in front of the guy mowing the grass, be sure and call me ‘Fred’ and call Porter ‘Bobby.’”

“Why would I do that?” I asked.

“I don’t have time to explain– just do it, okay?” He ran back up the stairs.

During lunch (a nutritious bowl of Beef-A-Roni seasoned with Tabasco and oregano) the boys laughed about their adventures in the front yard, while I just hoped they had not driven the poor man crazy.

I gathered that they peppered him with inquiries such as “Do you like Mountain Dew” and “Have you ever fried beef jerky?”

Apparently he still has his sense of humor intact:

  4. Hilarious!

My son, too, definitely believes that there are no stupid questions and feels no shame at asking anything that pops into his head. My husband is convinced that he has a rare form of Tourette’s which compels him to ask questions incessantly.

  5. Fantastic!! There are no servicemen here that have escaped from at least one of our four either.

  7. So awesome that the lawn guy had a sense of humor. You should strongly suggest to his supervisors that he get a raise for hanging with Fred and Bobby.

  8. My nephew is the King of Questions! Once when he was coming to spend the night, his parents were giving him standard issue “Be good while you are a guest” speech. He interrupted them and said, “The only rule Aunt K has is that I not ask her any questions.”

  9. Hilarious! It sounds like you have the perfect lawn guy for your family.

  17. Today’s post with the scan from the yard guy had me laughing so hard I damn near busted my stitches from my recent Lifestyle Lift. I gotta lay off your site for a day or two until the swelling stops.

I am a single mother to a pre-teen boy, a divorce lawyer, and I stop by your site for a grin from time to time. You never disappoint me!

    What I'm Reading

I've never read any of his fiction, but his book about the craft of writing was awesome.

Hey, I have a story in this book about how I'm not always the best mom. It's guaranteed to make you feel better about yourself, especially the part where I throw stuff at Finn.

I'd heard a lot about this and enjoyed it, but not as much as one of my all-time faves:

    The Boys Are Loving

I didn't think Porter would like this, but I was desperate for him to read something, so I shoved it at him and it was a WINNER.

Hooray-- there's a sequel to the original Diary. The guys are snarfing it up.

Porter finished all the Harry Potter books so I started him on A Wrinkle In Time, and he's enjoying it. I bought the whole set so he'd have plenty to read for the next few months.

After finishing the Harry Potters, Drew turned to the Hardy Boys. He can't tell a story "in a nutshell," so I've heard all about the missing jalopy, and the red wig. Solve the mystery already!
